The Windsor Residence is a new 2300 s.f. home nestled among oak trees in Central Austin. The property was the childhood home of the client's mother, but it was determined early in the project that the existing house could not be modified to meet the client's needs so the house was relocated to another lot. The new house is designed to take advantage of the treed lot and its distant views, with four covered porches and balconies that expand living space. Native limestone and painted hardi siding with vertical battens root the house in the local vernacular, while green building materials such as foam insulation and low-E windows provide energy efficiency.
