2011 was a year of collaboration. J.C. worked with Christy Seals of Loop Design to develop eco-modern designs for the B Side. The project is in the early stages, but here's a sneak preview of the Forest House, at right. We also helped Jay Corder and DesignHouse with the design of a new house in Travis Heights, currently under construction. Last but not least, J.C. is the architect of record for Nature's Point, a 13,000 sf wedding event center on Lake Travis, designed in collaboration with Rick Price and RedArcOne. The Noh Mask is a 2011 residential project based on Japanese spatial concepts, in particular the engawa (covered porch), which blurs the distinction between interior and exterior space (below). |

In April, J.C. was one of three architects invited to present recent work at the Austin Museum of Art's "New Architecture in Austin" symposium. Several Merzbau Design Collective projects finished construction in 2011, including the Zilker Kitchen. Projects in Hyde Park and French Place (at right) were nearing completion as the New Year approached. In January 2012, the Lake Austin Residence (below) was featured on dwell.com. Look for the Bento Box project to be featured soon in Austin Monthly magazine. |

| As
2011 wrapped up, we said goodbye to intern Melynn
Mayfield. Melynn worked on a number of projects during her
7-month residency in our office, and hopefully will continue to assist
with construction drawings for the Nature's Point project while she completes
her final semester at the UT
School of Architecture.
Happy new year, and we hope to see you in 2012!
